This note was written by the National Employment Office of Belgium in its supporting role for the Technical Commission on Employment Policies and Unemployment Insurance of the International Social Security Association, presided over by its administrator-general. Its goal is to provide an orientation on important themes appearing in recent literature on the effects digitalisation has on the labour market, in order to assist in ISSA’s new research project on the consequences of the digital economy for the future of social security. The main part of this orientation consists of a general synthesis of topics discussed in research. In order to help pave the way for further research, however, a list of publications for further reading is provided alongside the overview of cited works. In as vast a subject matter as digitalisation, this can of course in no way be considered to be an exhaustive list of relevant literature.
